12 May 2026: SETU Radio Society (SRS) on the Air as EI0SETU

EI0SETU

The airwaves across the South East of Ireland had a new operating club this week as the SETU Radio Society (SRS) officially joined the Irish Radio Transmitters Society. This is a milestone for the South East Technological University (SETU) as SRS made its debut under the callsign EI0SETU, signalling the start of a new club for wireless experimentation in the region.

On 12 May 2026, the first QSO was established. While connected to the EI7MLR UHF repeater on Mount Leinster, Carlow the QSO was made with Stewart McMickan (EI5LK) who was himself connected to the Divil's Bit VHF Repeater, EI2DBR in Tipperary.

The momentum continued into the evening. EI0SETU participated in the IRTS news service, officially announcing its presence to the wider Irish amateur radio fraternity.
